Quiet Xmas in East Sepik

THE people of East Sepik have been commended for ensuring that Christmas and New Year were celebrated in peace.
According to acting provincial police commander Insp Daniel Kayver, there were no major incidents reported.
He said that the people in East Sepik had now come to understand the importance of the festive season.
He said that their part in celebrating the festive period without causing trouble must be commended.
Insp Kayver said that even though there were no liquor restrictions in the province, people celebrated peacefully inside their premises and homes.
He said that in the past, there would be loud noise, rowdy behaviours and major fights caused by drunks on the streets.
Insp Kayver said that all districts outside Wewak including Maprik, Angoram, Yangoru Saussia, Ambunti Dreikikir and Wosera Gawi also reported no major crime activities during the festive period.
He also commended his men for their tireless effort in maintaining peace and quiet in the province, and the change of attitude by residents of Wewak town as well as in the outer districts.
