A 19-year old boy who completed his Grade 10 at Paga High School in the Lake Kopiago electorate, Southern Highlands province, last year was allegedly beaten to death by drunken policemen and two other men during Boxing Day near Mendi town.
The two policemen allegedly involved in the killing were suspended from duty while the two civilians believed to be from Oiyarap village are on the run.
The deceased was identified as Pakari Yami from Lake Kopiago in the western end of the province.
According to eyewitnesses, a fight broke out at the Gateway service station outside Mendi town, when two drunken men refused to pay for cigarettes they took from a vendor.
