Do parliamentarians deserve more pay?
I REFER to Members of Parliament who head parliamentary
committees voting to give themselves a raise in their allowances (Jan 3).
This is what I and many others would term as “sheer greed” by MPs who want
nothing but just more pay from taxpayers money.
All you do is get fatter and richer with more and more perks and privileges
that would cost taxpayers between K20 million and K30 million if approved.
One would ask what about the 93,000 school leavers in 2007 and all the other
school leavers for the last 30 years that have all joined our unskilled and
unemployed people in PNG?
Do they get even a toea as raise?
None of our unemployed people gets any benefits and yet all you MPs want is
more pay.
Have any of you stopped to think how many of our unemployed people go hungry
and do not have places to sleep?
How do you sleep at night when more and more people suffer and all you want
is more money in your pay?
All you leaders should be ashamed of yourselves. You are voted into
Parliament and fatten your wallets and your egos.
Instead of fixing up the unemployment problems, you request for more pay to
do a job that is already part of your responsibilities.
I think the public should vote on this issue and all other pay future rises
and ask this question. – “DO PARLIAMENTARIANS DESERVE MORE PAY?”
