Use of K10m for districts need to be monitored

I REFER to a recent letter about public service corruption eating up the budget by Lucas Kiap.
I agree with the writer’s opinion.
Every Finance and Treasury minister when presenting the budget year in year out always talked about alleviating poverty and improving the rural sector.
But to date, the vast majority of the people living in the rural areas have not seen any real changes nor have their lives improved. Instead, things have gone from bad to worse.
Politicians boast about millions and lately, billions of kina, budgeted for various purposes. Yet, we have not seen any change in the livelihood of our rural people since independence.
After the budget is passed, money is merely circulated and absorbed within the public service, Government bureaucracy and nothing for the majority of the rural population.
We only read about millions and billions but have not seen any tangible development.
I suggest a special team be set up to monitor and investigate all the 89 districts and how the K10 million per electorate is used and acquitted.
