PNG women get ready
for qualifier

THE national women’s soccer ñ Paraqueens - trial squad will assemble at the
PNGFA academy in Lae next weekend for a two-week camp.
Selectors have opted for the same 30-women squad that won gold at the Samoa
Pacific Games.
The squad will later be cut to 20 for a final training camp next month.
PNGFA general secretary Dimrit Mileng yesterday announced the squad.
New Zealand walked over PNG 6-0 in the OFC World Cup qualifier in Lae in
April last year to secure the right to represent Oceania in the women’s
World Cup in China in August this year.
Now, PNG had been given a second opportunity to meet New Zealand after
qualifying in the last Pacific Games in Samoa last year.
“This is the golden opportunity for PNG girls to enter the women’s World Cup
and they could not afford to let it slip past their figures. now is the time
to take revenge over their rivals from the Land of the long white clouds in
March this year.”
The OFC Women’s Football development officer Connie Selby will assist
national women’s coach Francis Moyap and team manageress Maggie Taligatus at
the camp.

Matrus, Jacklyn Chalau, Zeena Limbai, Mathilda Tomalin (Lae), Catherine
Kusunan (Wewak), Ara Midi (Goroka), Esther Muta (Kimbe), Sakapu Mark,
Pauline Turakaur (Wabag), Tracy Kig, Wasni Aguko, Lucy Loss, Jimaima Mukar (Madang),
Lynda Bunanga, Deslyn Siniu, Caroline Moerder, Miriam Lanta, Samantha
Peninsa, Helen Baki, Catherine Salaiau, Lydia Barnabas, Delilah Waive,
Martha Kiapin, Kiwis Toa, Francisca Madowe and Roxanne Komeng (Port
Moresby).
