Barlow seal K35,000 deal with PMSA

By WENDY KATUSELE
PORT Moresby Soccer Association have secured a K35,000 sponsorship package from Barlow group of companies.
The Barlow group, through their international chairman and owner Praful Chandari, yesterday made the commitment in Port Moresby.
Chandari is based in Singapore but is in the country for business.
He said he was pleased to support soccer in the country.
Chandari said it was a dream he had for almost 20 years to support soccer and PNG.
It was realised yesterday with the announcement of sponsorship package for one of the leading associations in the country.
The annual sponsorship depends on PMSA to prove their accountability in managing the financial package.
PMSA president Fabian Chow said a businessman like Chandari, who has a heart for soccer’s development in PNG, should be a positive move.
Chow said the K35,000 would be trialled this season with continued support to come from the company.
Chow added that future commitment by the company would depend on PMSA management.
Meanwhile, Chow refuted claims that PMSA owed money to the PNG Football Association in affiliation fees.
Chow told The National the PMSA, one of the leading associations in the country, did not owe monies to PNGFA but instead it was the opposite.
“It is not true. We do not owe PNGFA any money but they (PNGFA) owe us money,” Chow said.
Chow added that PNGFA owed them K10,000 from last year’s Southern regional titles.
He said that Chung had verbally told him in front of his executive officer Dimirit Mileng to get hold of PMSA’s bank account details and made payment the next day.
However, eight months later, the amount had yet to be settled, he said.
