Work on new high school to start
By JAMES KILA
GOROKA district in Eastern Highlands province expects to have a new high
school completed this year following funding support from the provincial
government.
Completion work on the new Gahuku High School is expected to start soon with
a provincial budgetary allocation of K150,000.
The initial construction of the new Gahuku High School was done during the
time of the former Goroka MP, Henry Smith, but was abandoned.
This will be a relief for parents of children in rural areas of Goroka
district who compete for spaces with town children at Goroka Secondary
School.
Plans to complete the high school was made recently during the handing down
of K72 million EHP provincial budget at the Muriso provincial assembly hall.
Member for Goroka Thompson Harokaqveh promised a K250,000 as counter-part
funding from the Goroka district development grants.
