Policemen’s sons on rampage in Kainantu

SONS of policemen in Kainantu went on a rampage, smashing wind-screens of four government vehicles, two of which were purchased recently by the Kainantu member Sailon Beseo.
The actions of the policemen’s sons happened on two separate occasions during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
A 16-man strong delegation involving reputable community leaders from Kainantu brought up the issue yesterday when they travelled to Goroka to present a petition to the EH provincial administrator, Munare Uyassi and the provincial police commander.
In the petition the Kainantu community leaders called on police and the administration to fast-track the investigations into the clash and punish those involved.
The Kainantu leaders said rowdy and unlawful behaviour of the sons of the policemen in Kainantu took place during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. Since then no action was taken by Kainantu police and the children are roaming freely in Kainantu town.
Over 40 community leaders signed the petition representing all corners of the Kainantu district namely, Kainantu urban, Agarabi, Kamano One and parts of Obura Wonenara.
The leaders demanded action within 10 days.
