Inquiry into Finance Department to start tomorrow

THE Commission of Inquiry into the Department of Finance will reconvene tomorrow.
Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry Maurice Sheehan announced the start of the inquiry in a statement last Friday.
Mr Sheehan said: “The Commission of Inquiry into the Department of Finance gives notice that it proposes to recommence the inquiry on Tuesday at 10 am, subject to confirmation of necessary lawful funding.”
Attempts to reach Mr Sheehan late last Friday at the inquiry office in Waigani were unsuccessful as the telephone lines to the office indicated that the lines were out.
When The National last spoke to Mr Sheehan early last week, he was confident the inquiry would begin this week, pending the release of funding from the Finance Department.
The former National Court judge had said then that “the inquiry is progressing as normal”.
