Slow start for PNG bowlers

PNG pairs and triples lawn bowls team have registered one win each in the 2008 World Lawn Bowls.
Championships currently underway in Christchurch, New Zealand. At Fendalton club, the SP Games gold medal pair Peter Juni and Pomat Topal got of the flying start against Hong Kong winning 22-11 on Saturday.
The win was shortlived as Canada were too strong with 25-13 victory, Scotland 22-11 and England just lucky to win 13-11. The results against Wales last night was not available for print.
Today, the PNG pair will take on Guernsey and Israel.
The triple team of Gagina Babona lead, Pokatou Pomaleu second lead and skip Nadu Namun made up for their three loses by beating beat Namibia by one point 17-16 yesterday.
They did not start the campaign well losing all their opening games to England (26-6), Malaysia (33-6) and South Pacific Island champions Cook Island 15-12.
The results of the game against Scotland were not available for print, however, today they will face the might of Wales and Australia.
The fours and the singles matches will be played between Jan 20 and 27. The singles player will be Peter Juni while the fours team are Gagina Babona lead, Pomat Topal second lead, Pokatau Pomaleu 3rd lead and Nadu Namun as skip.
Coach Willie Steven and manager Pelik Sapul have crossed their finger and would be relying on their own local knowledge to complete round robins.
