Moti inquiry must be made public

AS a gesture of good governance and for purposes of transparency, the Defence Minister must instruct that the PNG Defence Force inquiry into the Moti affair be open to the public, and the media in particular.
The PNGDF may have been illegally used to facilitate Moti’s flight from PNG hence the people have the right to know who gave the orders and why they did so.
Senior bureaucrats and others who collaborated in the “Great Moti Escape” are not above the law and must face the full force of the law for the sake of freedom and democracy in this country.
No one should be allowed to hide under the pretext of safeguarding national security interest as the matter was already before the courts of PNG and there was no imminent threat to national security.
If the National Executive Council and the Prime Minister were not aware of the flight until after it had happened, then somebody down the bureaucracy line must take full responsibility for one of the greatest blunders that PNG now has to live with.
Let us be honest and own up.
