Ovia earns spot in Australian Country XI

The team consisted of players who are currently taking part in the Australian Country Cricket Championship including four Queenslanders, three New South Welshman, two Victorians, two from the EAP team and a South Australian.
EAP’s Ovia, who has strung together several rock solid performances in the championship so far, got the nod from selectors along with unheralded seamer Dunu Eliaba of the Cook Islands. Ovia’s batting in the tournament has seen him amass 212 runs from three matches, including 119 not out and 75 against Queensland and Western Australia respectively.
Meanwhile, in the game between EAP and Victoria, going in to bat first the EAP were 8 for 157 from 55 overs struggling with young PNG batsman Asad Vala top scoring with 46.
Rain has washed out Round 4 matches and it is uncertain whether play will resume in the following days.
Rain and wet conditions affected other matches with batsman struggling to score runs as seen in the progressive results. In the Western Australia v New South Wales match – WA were 6 for 193, while Queensland scuttled the entire South Australian batting line up to have them all out for 99.
