Credit facility for Kerowagi people

By ZACHERY PER
ASPIRING entrepreneurs from Kerowagi, Simbu province would soon be able to tap into a half a million kina credit facility designed to fund new, small businesses.

The funds had been made available by Member Guma Wau from the K4 million allocated to his district under the supplementary budget.
Apart from the K500,000, Mr Wau also set aside K50,000 for public servants based in Kerowagi.
The mirco-credit facility would enable the local people to obtain mini-loans and start small businesses in their area.
“This would give the mothers or families to engage in some form of income-generating activities,” Mr Wau said.
He told The National in Kundiawa last Tuesday that it was very important to help aspiring business-minded men and women by providing them a source of cheap capital.
Mr Wau said obtaining loans from commercial banks was very difficult for the people as they did not meet the usual bank requirements and conditions.
He said coffee production could benefit much from the credit facility.
