Kiak is Simbu PEC representative

A FEMALE educationist was appointed to be a member of the Simbu provincial executive council (PEC) last week.
Simbu Governor Fr John Garia announced Josephine Kiak as the women’s representative in the PEC and was officially sworn into office in Kundiawa.
Mrs Kiak, a career educationist, had been contributing immensely towards the human resource development of the province, working her way up the rank and file to serve the province as provincial education advisor from 2003 to 2004.
Mrs Kiak also became the provincial chairperson for peace, justice, youth, women and religion, Fr Garia said.
Mrs Kiak thanked Fr Garia for recognising her capabilities and contributions towards the province and said it was an honour and privilege to be nominated to the PEC.
Other members sworn in were John Bolkun (youth representative) as chairman for provincial and LLG affairs, peace, justice and education; John Sande (community representative) as chairman for natural resources and Tadius Kobil (church representative) as chairman for works and health.
The appointments give legal effect to facilitate PEC and provincial assembly meetings without local level government councils presidents inconsistent with the recent amendment of the district authorities Act as passed by Parliament.
