THE State of Emergency (SoE) in Oro is being used by some authorities to deal with non-related matters, it was claimed yesterday.
SoE controller Col Vagi Oala said that security forces in Popondetta and other parts of the province were carrying tasks that had nothing to do with the recent floods.
“Our efforts and assets are being divided. It seems we are here to clean out a lot of things,” he said.
He said some of the issues should have been dealt with by the provincial administration and local authorities years ago.
As an example, he said the police had sought assistance from his office to evict some Education Department officers in Popondetta.
He said the eviction notices dated back to September 2005.
