Rotary brings more aid

ROTARY Australia runs a programme called Shelter Box. This is basically a complete home for up to 10 people.
It is a large dome tent and suitable for those whose house has been destroyed in an earthquake, flood, etc.
Rotary has donated 224 of these tents plus six fully equipped classrooms for schools which have been destroyed. The total cost is over K875,000.
They arrived in a 40ft container which Consort has kindly offered to ship free of charge to Oro Bay this weekend.
This will house up to 2,240 people, a full set of house building tools is also included with each box.
Similar ones were used for the volcano victims in Manam, the tsunami victims in Solomon Islands, earthquake victims Afghanistan, war victims Africa, etc.
In addition, up to 30 tonnes of food and supplies were given by Rotary immediately after the disaster and 100 home kits to those affected by the floods in Oro.
Our motto is “Rotary cares, Rotary shares”.
