Hoods and Raukele
lock horns
By VII KILLAR
TOP of the table clash between Pagini Hoods (73.04) and LBC NGI Raukele
(61.07), both teams have huge game points ahead from their rivals after
recording convincing wins last weekend.
Hoods has once again set eyes on the minor premiership with a game full of
points ahead of arch rival Raukele, who has come out to be the team-to-beat
with a bunch of keen and committed players this season.
Hoods, however, has always maintained its top standing season-in season-out
and have continued to reign as the supreme cricket club in Lae over the past
few seasons.
Having won three premierships for three consecutive season, Hoods has paved
the way for up-and-coming youngsters to carry on the legacy.
In the spirit of the game, its game tactics stretched out a little with
Raukele showing no mercy to its nemesis and will be out with all guns
blazing to have the shine off the premiers after the first round defeat.
Hoods on the other hand will be well co-coordinated with former
international and veteran William Maha, having a bat last weekend with an
old form in hand with a half century and couple of wickets as well with the
ball.
He will be well assisted by another veteran Opi Ravu , season performers in
brothers Rodney and Billy Maha, Richard Leka, Toua Nou and recruit, young
Tere Sere.
Raukele will be out to pile on the runs as it has done so far and will rely
on inform batsmen Matthew Walo , skipper Keimelo Vuivagi and Vii Killar.
The trio with the bat have dominated the scorebooks over a couple of
weekends and will be expected to repeat their batting display as they face
the premier.
