Vele and NA failed NCD residents

I FULLY support the effort of some to reverse the amendments to the National Capital District Commission (NCDC) Act.
Does Wari Vele have so much contempt for the people of NCD that he cannot let us chose our own leaders?
My only criticism of Archbishop Sir Brian Barnes and others opposing the amendments is that they have been too kind to those who passed the Bill.
As with Parliament and local-level governments, representatives on the NCDC Board should have relevant expertise to represent the people or industry.
The former business representative was unanimously nomina-ted by the NCD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Manufacturers’ Council and other business groups.
He has undoubted and trusted integrity, business competence and brought these competencies to the board.
The former women’s representative was nominated by the NCD Council of Women and brought to the board the views of half our population.
The former church representative was nominated by the NCD Council of Churches and he brought to the board integrity, a sense of value and leadership.
The former trades union representative was nominated by the Trade Union Congress leadership and he brought a concern for those of our people who are grassroots workers.
The new members do not represent anyone or any institution.
Vele could have amended the Act to widen representation.
He wants the NCD to be like a province.
Why then could he not have established proper local level governments to answer to neighbourhood needs?
Why could he not have suburban representatives from each district as members of the NCD?
Vele and the National Alliance have failed us, the residents of the NCD.
