Sinai called on to release funds

THE election manager Simon Sinai has been called on to release election funds quickly to enable workmen to carry out the mop-up exercise and complete it by this month.
Chairman of election steering committee and deputy provincial administrator Patilias Gamato said they wanted to get the officers out to do the mop-up exercise but they did not have any funds and called on Mr Sinai to release the funds.
“We need funds to carry out the mop-up exercise and also to update the common roll as we don’t have much time left.”
Morobe provincial government has allocated K100,000 to provide support funding to the PNG Electoral Commission to assist with the mop-up exercise and also to carry out awareness exercises in the province.
“We will also release K10,000 to the 10 districts of Morobe to help district administrators get all of their officers out in the local level government areas to carry out the mop-up and awareness exercises in their respective districts.”
