Local mum donates fridge to clinic

THE Lutheran Agency Tent City clinic in Lae, Morobe province, is a happy recipient of a much needed fridge from a local mother on Tuesday after thieves broke into the clinic recently.
Elsie Peter Dimir of Tent City donated the fridge to the clinic to restore the old fridge which was stolen by thieves two weeks ago, prompting the clinic to close for an indefinite period of time.
Ms Dimir donated the fridge to revive the operation of the clinic.
The clinic’s officer in charge Paul Warette said the clinic was closed in relation to a recent break and enter by thieves, who stole antibiotics, common used drugs inside the small pharmacy and a fridge, where drugs and syringe were usually stored.
It was alleged that the thieves crawled into the clinic premises through the drainage system and broke in and stole medical supplies and the fridge.
Mr Warette said a meeting was conducted by the clinic staffs with Tent City community, health authorities and police to identify the culprits and to return the drugs and the fridge.
He appealed to the Tent City community to assist the clinic in carrying out fund raising drives to buy materials for the clinic and also to give a helping hand in maintaining the clinic.
The National was on site to witness Tent City Lutheran church Pr Luther Komndi donating a sheet of fly wire to the clinic which he had brought from his home to replace one ripped off from the clinic’s window.
The clinic’s operations will soon be restored when all maintenance work are carried out on the broken windows and adequate drugs restored.
