Finsch robbery suspects nabbed

THREE suspects of the Finschhafen Post Office robbery last December are now in Lae police custody awaiting court mention.
They were taken to Lae last Wednesday.
Luther Ronu, 16, and Bevan Maiyu,19, both from Uruo village in Finschhafen district, and Vui Ambros, 19, from Maiyama village in Huon district, were charged with armed robbery and theft of K19,500 cash.
Three others Irecmuzo Zapu, 26, Dita Hase, 20, and Darren Atage, 24, were charged for being in possession of some of the stolen monies, firearms used during the robbery and marijuana.
Zapu and Hase’s cases will be heard in the Finschhafen District Court while Atage’s will be heard at the Lae District Court.
Another suspect, Christopher Ronu, 19, involved in the Treasury robbery, where K92,000 was stolen, and who also escaped police custody, was also caught with the other six.
Luther Ronu was also involved in the robbery.
Two of the suspects’ parents, who were also arrested with the seven, have been charged with harbouring the suspects and will also appear in court.
