PM urged to focus on his hometown, people

MY recent discovery of Wewak town is puzzling and has led me to pose this strange but true query: is this really Sir Michael Somare’s hometown?
It is littered with broken buildings, run-down Government centres, unhygienic hospital and small shopping centres like village trade stores with expired goods on the shelves.
It is a very unexpected picture of a man who has spent his entire life representing this town in Parliament. Sir Michael, it is very sad to realise that you have spent all your time trying to move PNG forward and not realising that your very own backyard is moving backward.
It is about time you seriously think of leaving behind legacies. You have done enough for this country. Let the 21st Century leaders take over and I suggest you focus on your very own people who need you badly.
Please make Wewak town into a tourist attraction where people of all ages and races can stop and reflect on your political career.

Yal Bal,
Sydney, Australia
