Thanks, Aust High Comm officials

ON behalf of my family,
I wish to thank three
gentlemen from the immigration section of the Australian High Commission for helping my son when he was almost offloaded at the Jackson International Airport on Jan 15.
He was bound for Fiji via Brisbane for his studies.
I did not realise that his visa, which expires at the end of this month, was only for a single visit and not multiple visits.
I was not aware that there was a stamp on the visa indicating that it was no longer valid.
My son, who is 14 years old, was travelling alone and would be met by his grandmother in Brisbane and they would later travel to Fiji together.
The tickets to Fiji were with her.
With the flight only an hour away, I panicked when told of the invalid visa.
Two gentlemen behind the counter – Sean McLachlan and Arle de Ridder – came to our rescue.
They spoke to a colleague at the High Commission, one Mr Justin, and within 20 minutes, my son had a new visa
and a big smile on his
face.
To the three gentlemen and the hardworking staff of Airlines PNG, a big thank you to you all.
You not only put a smile on my son’s face but you also gave him hope.
