Sharp’s appointment a shock

I AM absolutely shocked and disgusted to hear about the appointment of Harmish Sharp, the owner of Bismark Maritime Ltd, as chairman of the National Maritime Safety Authority (NMSA).
Rather than employ qualified Papua New Guinean officers and crewmen, he prefers to employ foreigners for his vessels, possibly because they are paid less.
Furthermore, he has so far refused to remove his burnt-out MV Sealark from the Lae harbour and has instead taken the NMSA to court for alleged defamation by one of the authority’s employees.
How can someone who is suing the NMSA be appointed to head that very same organisation? It absolutely baffles me.
The minister who made the appointment needs to explain to the shipping industry his reasons.
