Shaping up for ‘fight night’ out on town

TWENTY fighters, including two women, from around the country have been confirmed for the big ‘Fight Night’ to be held in Port Moresby next week.
The fighters will represent Mt Hagen, Lae, Simbu, Goroka and Port Moresby.
The exponents are all from the Yobmafics PNG Kickboxing and Martial Arts school.
The fight night will include boxers and people who practice other forms of martial arts.
Heading the way will be current PNG super-middle weight champion Willie Yoba, who has been training the fighters.
Fights will be staged in heavyweight, light fly, welterweight, bantam weight, light heavy and middle weight.
Fighters expected to feature are Kaupa Omena, Jeffery Daka, Thomas Kagili, Daniel John and Mark Goiye.
The two drawcards of the night will be Goiye in the super-middle weight and Kagili in lightweight division.
“The fighters have done pretty well in their training for the contest and should be a real success for them,” instructor, Yoba said.
The bouts will each be 4x2-minute rounds (boxing), 3x3-minute rounds (kick boxing) and 3x4-minute rounds in the other disciplines.
A team will be selected to represent PNG at an event in Australia next month.
