Chung board OFC ship as
vice-president

This follows the election of PNG Football Association's president David
Chung as senior vice-president of OFC during the confederation's general
elections held yesterday at the Crowne Plaza in Port Moresby.
Chung was the only candidate for the post.
The general elections also saw the re-election of president Reynald
Temarri for another four-year term.
Temarri was unanimously voted into office again by the 11-member
countries that make up OFC.
Also elected were New Zealand's Fred De Jong as vice-president, New
Caledonia's Claude Fournier as treasurer and newly admitted to OFC was
Lambert Matlock of Vanuatu.
Those Oceania region countries present were New Zealand, Vanuatu, New
Caledonia, Western Samoa, Cook Islands, Tonga, French Polynesia, Solomon
Islands, American Samoa and PNG.
The election was later described by Blatter, at a press conference, as
signifying unity and solidarity among the members.
Blatter also announced the promotion of the re-elected OFC president as
a FIFA member with the capacity role of vice-president representing the
region.
His term in office with FIFA begins in May.
"The election of the president Temarri is a show of unity and solidarity
among the OFC members," Blatter said.
He added that Chung's inclusion in the OFC was recognition of his
efforts in promoting the sport in the PNG.
Blatter said with OFC's slogan of "An ocean full of solidarity" did
indicate at the elections as for the first time there was peace and
harmony apart from other congress meeting he had attend that ended in
fights.
Meanwhile, Chung was happy with his new role in the OFC and knows what
was required of him to develop football in the region.
