K20,000 for Tingou health centre

THE Manus provincial government will bring services to communities that are prepared to accept development.
And community concerns and personal grievances must be addressed by using appropriate avenues so that development will occur smoothly.
Governor Michael Sapau made these remarks when presenting K20,000 to the Tingou community in Tetidu, Central Manus, as first part payment of a K40,000 financial commitment made by Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare at the National Alliance rally there last year.
The money was set specifically for the purchase of a generator set to supply electricity to the Tingou Health Centre.
Mr Sapau told villagers that a major development objective of the Government was rural development and it was looking at bringing services to rural areas where the bulk of the people were.
“If we want development, we must work together by putting personal differences aside and stop competition demands.”
He said development involved a give-and-take situation and people must open up their resources to aid change.
Mr Sapau added that he wanted to see more government officers stationed in rural areas and urged leaders and the people to work together in the development process.
He urged them to look after established government properties as well as upcoming ones.
