Duo under probe for incest

TWO men are being investigated for allegedly sexually abusing their teenage daughters in Port Moresby.
In one incident, one of the men reportedly assaulted his 17-year-old daughter while treating some sores on her thighs.
The mother of the 17-year-girl lodged the complaint with police after the daughter reportedly told her about the alleged rape by her father last Saturday at their home.
In the second incident, a 13-year-old was allegedly sexually abused by her father who was understood to have paid a substantial sum money to his relatives in one Highlands province before taking his daughter to Port Moresby two weeks ago.
It was here that he allegedly held her captive in a house and sexually abused her.
NCD police chief Supt Fred Yakasa expressed concern that there had been an increase in the number of incest cases.
“There were hardly any such reports in the past,” he said.
He urged parents who tended to leave their daughters with relatives to ensure that they could be trusted.
Supt Yakasa also said a woman was raped by about five men after the gang chased her male partner away.
They were returning from a market when they were confronted by the men.
