Seminar on porn in March

EAST New Britain Governor Leo Dion said yesterday that the provincial administration had known for sometime that pornography was being produced in the province and had been quietly investigating.
He said the provincial law and order committee was putting together a detailed report on the findings.
“Some names, including those of public servants, have surfaced but there is nothing conclusive yet,” he said in response to a front-page report in The National last week.
Provincial administrator Aquila Tubal, who heads the provincial public service, has yet to comment on the issue.
Mr Tubal is expected to go live on Radio ENB tomorrow to discuss the issue.
The provincial administration is planning a seminar in March where stakeholders would be invited to discuss ways to address pornography issues in East New Britain.
A spokesperson for the administration said the seminar would focus on pornography laws in the country.
Meanwhile, a team from the Rabaul district is investigating the racket, as directed by Rabaul MP and Minister for Justice and Attorney-General Dr Allan Marat.
The team has already uncovered locally-produced materials including movie CDs, slides and books featuring local women.
