Sir Paulias irked over Govt’s failure

GOVERNOR-General Sir Paulias Matane is disappointed that the Government has failed to give adequate financial support to the Censorship Office over the years.
He expressed his disappointment in a letter to the Department of Community Development last month after being informed of the problems faced by the Censorship Office.
In the letter, addressed to the department’s Secretary Joseph Klapat, Sir Paulias said he was “not impressed with the Government’s non-assistance to the Censorship Board”.
He “requested” Mr Klapat to convince the Government to give the matter priority and support the Censorship Office.
Sir Paulias, who had served as chairman of the Censorship Office twice, said he was concerned that young people were involved in undesirable activities.
