Casino Act 2007 – most unjust, illogical law

I SUPPORT the call made by Governor-General Sir Paulias Matane for the Casino Act 2007 to be repealed.
The churches, women’s groups, NGOs and all right-thinking Papua New Guineans should stand up now and call on the current Members of Parliament to have the Act repealed.
Members should not pretend that everything is well with the very people who voted them into Parliament.
They should look around them to see what the vast majority of families are going through right now.
All forms of gambling, particularly the poker machines, are causing a lot of damage to Papua New Guinean families and this should be enough reason to stop the biggest evil – casinos.
It must not be allowed into the country.
If the well-to-do, including the MPs, want to gamble in a casino, I suggest they travel overseas to have their fun.
Of all the legislation that were passed by the NA-led Government so far, I reckon this Act has to be the most unreasonable and illogical.
