Struggling age

In my youth, I struggled to fit in
I now struggle to be unique
In my youth I struggled to be insane
I now struggle to keep my sanity
In my youth I struggled for a partner for life
I now struggle to be single again
In my youth I struggled for fame
I now struggle to be left alone
In my youth I struggled for what was wrong
I now struggle to make things right
In my youth I struggled to see things differently
I now struggle to accept things the way they are

So long, farewell
(A tribute to the late Sir Joseph Nombri)

From the top of Mt Wilhelm
There was a sad sort of silence
That came down on Wagl
Then onto Kundiawa it spread
And up and beyond the borders of Simbu
Compelling all, simple and well-to-do
To pause and remember
Only the kumuls echoing cry
Across the valley to mountain top
Pierced the silence

For you who was there
When this land was formed into a nation
A patrol officer, a district commissioner
And our ambassador to the land of the Samurai
As humble as Wagl you served
As firm as Mt Wilhelm you stood
Our friend, our brother, our father
Simple you came, simple you lived
And a simple man you now depart

Thank you for flying high our flag
Thank you taking far our name
Your land, your people you served well
So long, farewell
Nokangono akemina edinga
Ende kamun egke kuri onkgua
Wakaiwe dumniwa endipo
Our friend, our brother, our father
We salute you, Sir
So long, farewell

Happy birthday

The candles increase every year
Present wrappings of different shapes, sizes and colours
you’ll tear
Mmm, nice surprises
And best wishes
With the clapping and cheering as everyone roared
Happy Birthday
It’s your special day
Talk about food, yum, it’s all good
Everyone’s stomach grumbling like thunder
Not to mention your hunger
for our special birthday cake
which Mum baked
Great preparations
Beautiful decorations
Friends, family and relatives
Are buzzing likes bees in their hives
Party music, party games, party tricks
Laughter and dancing
You’re on top of the world
Well, that’s what a birthday wishes you
