Raukele lose top spot

Raukele’s tenuous grip on the top spot in the Port Moresby A grade did not survive the weekend. Predictably with the form that they have been exhibiting over the last two rounds, it was only a matter of time before they would lose their first placing.
They were still in good shape on the ladder even after their surprising defeat at the hands of Mobil STC a fortnight ago, and one would have considered it a minor hiccup on their road to the finals . But after their latest loss it’s uncertain whether they have the legs to carry them through to the finals.
Although last weeks effort against KCC was an improvement for Raukele, they still could not manage a win that would have wiped away memories of their routing against Mobil STC previously.
Raukele will be looking to snap a two game losing streak when they play Wesram Taora tomorrow at Colts ground.
KCC and Mariners go head to head tomorrow at Amini Park. KCC, coming off a convincing win over the slumping Raukele, should have the goods on an improving Mariners who scored a morale boosting victory over SNS United last week.
Sunday will see Coasters, who are slowly building momentum after two solid wins on the trot, meet BNG Poreporena at the Colts ground. The other Sunday game will be an interesting contest between the new form team of the competition Mobil STC and SNS United.
After readjustments to the points ladder the Port Moresby A grade table going into Round 15 looks this way: SNS United (34), Raukele (33), BNG Poreporena (25) and KCC (23) make up the top four while Mobil STC (22), Wesram Taora (18), TST Coasters (14) and Mariners (9) completing the eight team competition.
