CEA an inspiration to students

TEACHERS in the Catholic education agency (CEA) in the National Capital District and Central province have been challenged to be an inspiration to their students.

Fr John Glynn, who is the patron of the youth against corruption association, told the teachers during the teachers’ commissioning last week that by instilling motivation in the hearts of students, the teacher can than teach them skills and knowledge and thus empower them so that they become better citizens.
“How can you as a person and a teacher inspire others?” was one questions asked by Fr. Glynn.
The teachers ranged from elementary through to tertiary level from 30 schools under the CEA.
Catholic education secretary John Maela, said this was an annual event that helped teachers to focus their minds on their responsibilities and tasks ahead.
The teachers were put in groups and asked to think on how best they could inspire, motivate and empower their students in their teaching career.
“We find that commissioning our teachers, gears them up for the school year and the tasks that comes with it and the results we reap at year’s end are outstanding but the sad part is that Port Moresby Archdiocese was the only one in the country that commissions its teachers,” Edmund Auro, the coordinator for Christian Religious Education (CRE) told The National.
