ENB cops arrest third rape suspect

By ELIZABETH VUVU
EAST New Britain police have arrested a third suspect, who was involved in the rape of a 20-year-old girl.
The girl was allegedly raped by several men at the Tokua plantation compound in September last year.
According to provincial police commander Supt Allan Kundi, a 20-year-old man from the Kokopo area was arrested and charged with rape last weekend.
However, five other suspects are still large.
Two suspects were caught late last year and are now at the Kerevat Correctional Institute after being arrested and charged.
The suspect, who was arrested last weekend, is in police custody and will be appearing before the Kokopo Committal Court for mention tomorrow.
Supt Kundi said the suspect was among eight men who allegedly dragged the victim away from her boyfriend and raped her.
According to reports from police, the girl was visiting her boyfriend at Tokua plantation compound when she was attacked around 8pm last Sept 2.
Supt Kundi said the eight men approached them, assaulted the boyfriend, who was later chased away, and dragged the girl into the nearby bushes and raped her.
