Guria name training squad

THE Agmark Rabaul Gurias have named a 21-man train on squad for this year’s
SP Cup competition with most of the players from last year’s line-up
retained.
Coach Michael Marum said the training would start as soon as thorough
medical checkups are done next week at the Agmark Gurias’ Gym.
The 21 are Alois Waileng, Lik Delly, Chris Purkikil, Rolly Matalau, George
Baker, James Soatsin, Menzie Yere, Channel Aquila, Moab Kivung, Dude Daplie,
Opisa Pomba, Frank Jim, Rodney Pora, Ricky Sibiya, Obert Hondole, Baltasar
Lome, Colin Aruna, Sakias Kabange, Benson Kanini, Andrew Buka, and Abraham
Henao.
Jessie Alunga, has officially retired from rugby league along with James
Dummie, Lucas Solbat and Oscar Tonga.
“Retaining most of the squad from last year do not mean we are not getting
new players.
“We are certainly on the lookout for new players,” Marum said when asked if
new players would join the squad this year.
He said the NGIP Agmark Nines competition currently in Kokopo which Marum is
also coordinating as one of the “hunting grounds” for the selection of the
side this year.
“The tournament is where we will get most of our players from,” Marum said
in an e-mail reply.
He is also calling on all players selected but residing outside East New
Britain province to contact him at the Agmark headquarters on phone number
982 9055 and be in the province before the medical checkups on Feb 6.
