Nine awarded K3,000 for school fees
By ALISON ANIS
AT least nine female students undertaking studies at PNG’s six main
universities will be able to fulfil their dreams of graduating this year
with bachelor or diploma certificates in their various academic fields.
This has been made possible through The National’s empowering women
campaign draw held yesterday at The National’s head office in Waigani,
with representatives from major sponsoring companies picking out the
lucky winners from about more than 4,000 entries from all over PNG.
The winners included:
* Mary Daure – 4th year student in PNG Studies (Divine Word university);
* Karen Siwi – 4th year Finance and Banking student (UPNG);
* Emmajil Bogari-Ahai – final year student in Business and Commerce (UPNG);
* Linda Pata – 4th year Pharmacy student (UPNG);
* Deborah Wohuinangu – 4th year mechanical engineering student (Unitech);
* Clarissa Mondu – 4th year Commerce and Education and Diploma in
Accounting student (University of Goroka);
* Bernadine Tzilu – 2nd year student in Applied Chemistry (Unitech);
* Agetha Bigie – 2nd year Tropical Agriculture student (University of
Goroka);
* Betty Du – 2nd year Bachelor in Education student (UOG); and
* Sonya Badia Luvi – 2nd year Bachelor in Education (Pacific Adventist
University)
Each of the winners will be awarded K 3,000 to meet school fees for this
year.
The campaign is an initiative of The National newspaper, which started
years back with the aim of empowering women through making education
accessible to all.
