Morobe PEC members take oath of office

THE Morobe provincial government has the lowest number of provincial executive council (PEC) members.
Members consist of Governor Luther Wenge, deputy Governor Konie Iguan, and assembly member Benjamin Philip to form the new look sam sewec – the cabinet.
They were sworn in before the public at Tutumang (provincial assembly), Top Town last Monday.
Mr Wenge is the chairman for finance, agriculture, education, justice and mining.
Markham MP Iguan was sworn in as deputy governor and chairman for health, human resources, industry sports and culture.
Menyamya’s Mr Philip took the oath for the chairmanship of works, fisheries and lands.
The provincial government comprised of all 10 national Members of Parliament and three nominated members.
District presidents, who used to be members of the Tutumang, had been relegated to their council chambers.
All three MPs vowed to work together to bring tangible development to all the districts in the province, which they said had been lacking in the last 32 years.
Other MPs including Bulolo MP Sam Basil and Tewae–Siassi MP Vincent Michaels congratulated the new PEC members saying they would work together to address issues on all fronts.
Assembly member and defence minister and Kabwum MP Bob Dadae flew in from Port Moresby to witness the swearing -in of the new PEC members and congratulated them.
It was also understood that the appointed members for the Tutumang would be called on a later date.
