Tere-Apisah Oz bound
By THADDEUS TIRIMAN
LAST year has been a successful year for one of Papua New Guinea’s aspiring tennis star Abigail Tere-Apisah, who has been hitting it out right in the ITF Pacific Oceania Regional Training Centre in Fiji.

She is now prepared to move on from her old school to a more competitive environment in Albury, Australia.
After spending four years through an ANZ sponsored scholarship programme training at the regional centre, the teenager will be joining the Margaret Court Tennis Academy in Albury, Australia this year. The 15-year-old’s success in the academy will determine her next move, which will be a shot at a professional career in tennis and so far sponsorship offers are pouring in for her by friends and authorities who believe Abigail can make it to the very top.
She has been successful in tournaments in Australia and New Zealand, including the Margaret Court Junior Championships in which she won 6-0, 6-0 against a top junior Australian, where the Margaret Court Tennis Academy announced she has been given a scholarship worth A$1000. Phil Shanahan, the director of the Margaret Court Junior Academy, also confirmed they were giving Abigail free coaching. To top it all off, she has been offered free accommodation in Albury.
