Mobil in super form

By PETER PUSAL
New form team of the Port Moresby A grade cricket competition Mobil STC will look to dominate an out-of-sorts TST Coasters side tomorrow in their round 16 clash at Colts Oval. Mobil, who are on equal fourth spot on the ladder with the other boom team KCC, have so far strung impressive performances against all current top four teams to see them knocking at the door of a play-off spot.

In the other Saturday match, Wesram Taora take on SNS United at Amini Park, and it will be interesting to see whether United can recover from last weeks loss to Mobil or will Wesram’s in-form batsmen feast on United’s bowling attack.
Sunday’s match at Amini has out-of-form teams Mariners and Raukele battling to put some respectability back into their respective seasons after a dismal stretch of loses. Raukele in particular, whose fall from grace has been a disappointment for fans, will need to find their early season form to hold on to a top four spot. Mariners on the other hand will carry the unwanted tag of wooden spoon favourites into this game and will have to play out of their skins to secure a win. It’s a toss up.
Colts oval will have the Koita men of KCC looking to maintain their fourth placing against a just-as-desparate BNG Poreporena, only a point ahead on the ladder, trying to stave off KCC’s challenge.
The A grade competition ladder going into round 16 looks this way: SNS United (34), Raukele (34) second on net run rate, BNG Poreporena (28) and KCC (27) making the top four. Also on equal points with KCC is Mobil STC (27) but in fifth on net run rate, then Wesram Taora (23), TST Coasters (14) and Mariners (8) bringing up the rear.
