Double headers in POM men’s softball

By EKONIA PENI
The Digicel Port Moresby men’s softball competition will stage double header matches this weekend in an effort to complete the competition and the finals before the National Championships in March.

In tomorrow’s matches Market 2000 Brown Eagles, PNG Power and LBC Gazelle are the teams to watch as they prepare to play their respective double headers with a huge crowd expected at the Bisini softball diamonds.
Eagles will play Gazelle in the main match tomorrow in what would be a battle for the top four. But before this match, Eagles will start off the day with an easy match at 8.30am against bottom team Malangan.
Gazelle, on the other hand, will play the ever unpredictable Dolphins at midday before playing Eagles in the main game.
Top team PNG Power on the other hand will play their first match against Malangan at 11am before facing Samurai at 1.30 pm.
Two opponents, who the power men are favoured to beat not only to remain at the top of the ladder but also to remain favourites for the season’s minor premiers.
On Sunday, Kopex will play double headers firstly against Airways Bears at 11 am and then back up for their next match against Samurai at 1.30pm
And after facing the tough Kopex, Bears will need to back up strongly against SPIA Manolos whose only match of the weekend will be against Bears.
Manolos good form though will be tested as the Bears will also be banking on a win to remain in the top three.
