PNG will have another opportunity to witness another three major international kickboxing shows in PNG.
This announcement was made after confirmation from the international sanctioning bodies, International Sport Kickboxing Association (ISKA) and World Kickboxing Association (WKA).
The recommendations were made after hosting the successful international event on Dec 2 last year, Rest of the world v PNG.
PNG Kickboxing president Stanley Nandex also confirmed that it had finalised its 2008 event calendar.
It is highlighted with regional championships starting with the Highlands championships on March 1 in Mendi, followed by the National championships in Kundiawa on April 12-13, the Kokoka Track Cup in Tabubil on June 1, Commonwealth title in Lae on Aug 1, Momase championships on Sept 15-16, and the World Title challenge on Dec 1.
There will also be two international invitation fights - March 22 in Melbourne, Australia, and ISKA world championship on Aug 19-25 in Zech Republic.
Nandex said, these two international invitations would be a good lead-up to the two major fights in PNG.
Nandex also confirmed that five fighters who fought during the international match last year 2007 were selected to compete for the commonwealth title and who ever wins will go in for the world title shot in December.
An impressed with their performance and the recommendation from the international sanctioning body to recognized them to contest for the two major fights this year, said Nandex.
He said it was important for the fighters who are now in their early 20s and providing or giving such opportunity will be a challenge and great for them when they are in their best and in their prime time.
The fighters are Andy Sam, Laurie Hanku, Mark Sondo, John Kwiwa and Gabi Yura.
Nandex said he had a lot of confidence in them. He said there will be other undercard fights lined up for other fighters.
