Lae Softball Association president Paul Pasen said the competition was
progressing well with all the teams participating.
Manolos continued its form last weekend by defeating Islands Hawks (2) 6-3
on Saturday and repeated the dose by disposing off an equally determined
Telikom outfit 6-2 in the women’s games on Sunday.
The men also continued their winning form by forfeiting Telikom 7-0 on
Saturday and added Burma Raiders to their list of victims with a 4-1
drubbing on Sunday to stay in the clear on the points ladder.
In other matches Telikom caned Islands Hawks (1) 5-1 and Islands Hawks (1)
thrashed Islands Hawks (2) 8-2 in a one sided affair
In the women’s division and Tigers demolished Telikom 9-0 in another one
sided encounter and Tigers flogged Burma Raiders 5-3 in another entertaining
game.
Pasen said he will finalise the points ladder after the end of round two of
the season proper competition.
Teams would be advised of their respective positions on the competition
ladder this week.
“I will also finalise the list of players in both the men and women
divisions who have been selected on form to represent Lae in the coming
national softball championships to be held in Port Moresby from March 21 to
24,” Pasen said.
“We are confident of defending the national softball title and bringing it
back to Lae for the second year and will be sending a strong team blended
with youth and experience to defend the title that we won last year to
become the number one softball playing centre in PNG,” he added.
