NCD community gets new private
hospital
By JUNITA SOL GOMA
THE K6 million west wing of the Paradise Private Hospital ( former Dr.
Mola’s Private Clinic) was completed and officially opened last Tuesday
by the Governor General Sir Paulias Matane at three-mile in Port
Moresby.
Sir Paulias said public hospital facilities had not really kept up with
population growth and so many Papua New Guineans preferred to get health
care from private facilities, and added that this new hospital is “one
of the best in the country”.
Paradise Private Hospital consists of:
* A 24-hour accident and emergency service;
* A new X-ray and laboratory;
* An enlarged and renovated operating theatre space; and
* A 30-bed general inpatient ward with a number of private rooms for
those who want privacy and tranquillity when they are sick.
Sir Paulias congratulated the directors, saying they had provided the
National Capital District (NCD) community with a high quality private
option for health care.
“This means that people will not have to spend too much money going
overseas for medical treatment,” Sir Paulias pointed out.
Dr Robin Sios, a director of the hospital, said “what is unique about
this new hospital is that its existence is based on a strong family
relationship, which is important for the doctor-patient relationship.
The event, coinciding with the Chinese New Year, was concluded with a
lion dance and fireworks from the Port Moresby Chinese community.
