for aid in soccer
By HENRY MORABANG
PAPUA New Guinea Football Association is
trying to forge a working relationship with Football Malaysia in terms of
training and technical development.
PNGFA president David Chung, who is currently on holiday in Malaysia, said
yesterday that he has held meetings with the general secretary of Football
Malaysia to discuss cooperation programmes.
“We verbally touched on areas of our national club, national team especially
on youth to use Malaysia training facilities whereby they provide assistance
with food and accommodation while our teams stay there,” he said.
“We can also participate in coaches and referees programmes and in return
they can do the same while their teams tour Port Moresby, and also attend
courses,” he said.
Chung said through an email that both PNG and Malaysia football associations
have agreed in principle to have friendly matches by youth teams yearly on a
rotation basis. This would mean that PNG visiting Malaysia and Malaysia
reciprocating the following year.
He said he would be putting everything in writing to Malaysia Football
general secretary Dato Azziudin Ahmad and the board of directors of Malaysia
Football for approval, hopefully by April this year for an agreement to be
signed.
Chung said PNGFA intends to promote and concentrate more on National Soccer
League club pathway and youth teams.
