Interconnection not a big deal
We the rural people of this nation are not
bothered by whether or not B mobile and Digicel interconnect. The reason is
that we do not have land lines or B mobile sim cards. There are no B Mobile
towers in our backyard. We only have Digicel tower behind our back yard, and
guess what, there are no security guards for these Digicel towers. Digicel
if you do not have to sign the ICT policy then don’t. If the Government
forces you, believe me there will be plenty public opposition. After 30
years, I am able to enjoy the benefits of competition, this is my right and
the Government cannot force me to use a below standard over priced Telikom
phone service. – Werake yuPlease no more
games, pay us
I WOULD like to comment on the ex-servicemen’s retrenchment entitlement
which has dragged for more than two decades. The then government directed
the redundancy exercise in the 1980s and since then, we, the retrenched
soldiers of between 1982 and 1989 are still waiting for our dues whilst
soldiers retrenched in 2002 were paid their entitlements. The State and
PNGDF in the early 1990s simply defied the court rulings and denied us our
entitlements. A few jealous and incompetent senior officers in authority
failed to handle the matter diligently at that time, fouling everything up.
Now that the State is going to pay us our long overdue entitlements, I hope
there will be no more games played and the 8% annual interests must be added
onto the package backdated 20 years ago to cater for the long struggle we
endured. – Keni Kanawi Lucas, via email
Invest on better things than TV
Why didn’t the Government buy EMTV before Fiji TV when it was sold for A$1
million by it’s former owner? There are more important things to do or think
about like – rural electrification, road maintenance and opening up
inaccessible areas, building bridges, building classrooms and fixing the
health system. All these things depend largely on donors. Why? – WY, via
