Get all involved!
PNGSBRFL chairman Ifisoe Segeyaro made this comment while
receiving K20,000 from Teachers Saving and Loan Society (TSLS) Limited
recently to boost its financial capacity to conduct the nationwide road
show.
As part of community responsibility, the TSLS chief executive officer
Michael Koisen said society has an active involvement in supporting
youngsters in sports. He said putting money into the young sportsman has
great potential and the society is prepared to invest there.
Segeyaro thanked TSLS, stressing that the road show does not belong to PNG
Rugby Football League or Segeyaro, the road show programme belonged to
people of Papua New Guinea and through their provincial governments.
“I appeal and encourage the Governors of each province to come forward to
support the road show. The onus is on respective governors, if they want the
road show to be conducted in their province they should chip in.”
The chairman said there are four levels of sponsorship - K20,000 for
category A; K15,000 for category B; K10,000 for category C; and K5,000 and
below for category D.
He said Nestle Milo has already shown the way by being the first sponsor of
the schoolboysí rugby league competition, having investing more than
K300,000 during the past three years.
This year, Milo has increased its sponsorship in both cash and kind for the
schoolboys RL development.
The schoolboys concept is at its infant stages and following the
introduction two years ago, the competition have branched out to Lae, Goroka,
Kainantu, Rabaul, Bougainville, Kavieng, Kundiawa, Kimbe and Bialla. Other
centres that will soon participate are Ramu, Madang, Mount Hagen, Enga and
Mendi.
The tentative itinerary for the 2008 Schoolboys Road show is: Port Moresby
(April 4-6), Lae (Oct 5), Goroka (August 15), East New Britain (Sept 12-14)
and final one in Port Moresby on Nov 16.
The road show will also involve cultural shows.
Segeyaro said culture is dying out in our society and as future citizens,
the schoolboys will also take part in the cultural show featuring schools
charity quests for boys and girls at the respective centres.
