FinCorp reopens Goroka branch

FINANCE Corp Ltd (FinCorp) has re-opened its doors in Goroka to provide financial services to Simbu and Eastern Highlands provinces.
The company closed its Goroka branch in early 2000 after encountering financial problems.
Eastern Highlands Governor Malcolm Smith-Kela officially opened the new facility in Goroka yesterday.
He said without businesses in any towns or cities, they would vanish from existence.
“Goroka has seen an increase in business activities in the last four years as a result of positive growth … however, land issue has remained a major problem and it is hindering expansion in business activities,” he said
FinCorp board chairman Kerenga Kua said his company had lending package designed for small borrowers.
Those with commercial interests can seek financial assistance from FinCorp, Mr Kua said.
“FinCorp Goroka branch will provide financial help like school fees … and those who want to start small businesses in agriculture, hospitality and tourism,” Mr Kua said.
