Community leaders to push for the return of police vehicle

YAWASORO community police chairman Christopher Moninara is calling on all community leaders and the 12 ward councillors from Kaindi to Sambugau along the West Coast to attend a meeting to discuss ways to negotiate the return of their police vehicle.
The vehicle was removed from them two months ago by East Sepik provincial police commander Chief Supt Leo Kabilo.
Mr Moninara, who is also the ward 16 councillor, said removal of the vehicle had affected police work resulting in an increase in lawlessness in the area.
He gave an example of a clash between youths of Yawasoro and Tangara last Sunday, which saw two men being severely wounded.
The vehicle was taken by Mr Kabilo late last year following allegations of corrupt practices.
The vehicle was donated by local MP Kimson Kare in 2005 following a request from the community leaders for a vehicle to assist police work in the area.
Meanwhile, Mr Kabilo, when contacted by The National last Friday, said he would not return the vehicle.
