League players urged to show their true colours

By MUSARIKE ANANGAI
With a big representative year ahead for rugby league, players have been urged to show selectors that they are keen to be a part of it.
Port Moresby Rugby League president Solomon Ravu made this call this week after noticing clubs fielding most of their senior players during the opening round of the local competition last weekend.
Ravu said that the tour of France and the World Cup coming up later in the year should be a big incentive for players to aspire to.
These incentives could see a bigger and very competitive Port Moresby rugby league season this year, he said.
Only the A grade competition started last weekend with a mixture of results that ranged from a 50-12 thrashing of Souths by Butterflies to a narrow 22-20 win by Hawks over Royals.
Meanwhile, Ravu has reminded all clubs to complete registrations for all their reserve grade players before they begin their season this weekend.
Registration fees for reserve graders are K30 while under 19 players will pay K20 for their competition which will start next weekend.
Added to the round 2 draw this Sunday is a Brian Bell Bulldogs trial match at 1.30pm that will be a curtain raiser to the main match between defending champions Hekari Tarangau and Butterflies.
